Jobst® Elvarex® now available on prescription!

BSN medical is proud to announce the Drug Tariff listing of Jobst Elvarex Custom Fit garments from 1st March 2006.  Patients and clinicians will be pleased to learn that the widest range of styles and compression classes for upper and lower limb is now fully reimbursable.

Jobst Elvarex garments are constructed from a unique, flat-knitted material, specifically designed to address the symptoms associated with lymphoedema, following oedema reduction.  The material is knitted on straight rows of needles and only becomes a garment when it is sewn together. The number of loops can be varied to achieve virtually any desired shape or profile.  This guarantees a precise anatomical fit for each individual patient, as well as the optimal compression profile, even when the residual oedema is extreme.  The unique stitch pattern exerts a micro-massage effect on the skin during movement to aid mobilisation of oedema and help improve lymph drainage.  It is also highly breathable, so enhancing patient comfort and reducing the risk of skin damage, due to maceration.

From placing an order, Jobst Elvarex can be with the patient within 5 working days.  When fitting garments following intensive therapy to reduce oedema, this delivery time ensures that the therapist can measure as near to the end of the therapy course as possible.  Measurements are therefore more accurate and the fit and performance of the garment will be optimised as a result.
