Leukomed® Academy Modules
A brief overview of each module currently available is given here, to assist you in your selection for your study day.
Module 1: Anatomy and Physiology of the Skin
- Provides an understanding of the function of the skin and the effects if it is compromised
Module 2: Anatomy and Physiology of Wound Healing
- Investigates the physiology and phases of normal wound healing and the differences between healing by primary and secondary intention
Module 3: Factors Affecting Wound Healing
- Explores the various intrinsic and extrinsic factors that affect wound healing
Module 4: Infection Management
- Provides an overview of micro-organisims commonly found in an infected wound, complications arising from infection and correct management
Module 5: Improving the Assessment of Wounds
- Provides a practical understanding of how using a full holistic assessment can support effective wound management
Module 6: Surgical Site Infection (SSI)
- Provides an understanding of how to define and categorise an SSI, highlighting associated risk factors and what steps should be taken to prevent complications from occurring
Module 7: Moisture Associated Skin Damage
- Provides an understanding of how different types of moisture can affect the skin, including differentiating between a pressure ulcer and moisture lesion
Module 8: Law and Litigation in the NHS
- To demonstrate an understanding of your role within a coroners court, examining record keeping and documentation within the
nursing profession and the consequences of not getting it right. To investigate root cause analysis in relation to pressure ulceration
and to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate risk assessment and preventative care that can be implemented
